Welcome

Racist statue
getting you down?

Bothered by a sexist statue?

Religious statue
on public property?

Or otherwise unrepresentative?
It's Time To Take Action.
About Us
The Institute for Statue Modification is dedicated to statue modification and its applications as a tool for peaceful protest and revolutionary change. We are dedicated to investigating the point of divergence between popular opinion and the decorative elements of the urban landscape.
Have You Ever Wondered:
- Whom do we choose to monumentalize and why?
- How do we recontextualize statues, monuments, and other fixtures in urban space when cultural attitudes toward history change?
- How does shifting the balance of power in statue and monument representation translate to a political shift in power?
We Are Here For You
The Institute is your resource for statue modification and will be launching its full-featured site on Monday, May 12, 2008. Do join us at our site launch event, taking place at the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) Spring Show at New York University. Representatives from the Institute will be available to answer your questions.
